Summary
This website keeps only high‑level, aggregate visit statistics. We do not use cookies, we do not build profiles, and we do not sell or share personal data for marketing: we do not have any personal data in the first place. Any “secret toggles” or effects you trigger on pages here live only in your browser’s session storage and disappear when you close the tab.

What we collect and why
We use a privacy‑friendly analytics service, GoatCounter, to understand overall traffic patterns (for example: how many visitors per hour, which countries visitors came from, and whether people used a phone or a computer). We use this to keep the site working and to plan improvements. The legal basis is legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in measuring reach and detecting technical issues.
Fields we see (aggregated): page URL and title, referrer (if provided by your browser), timestamp grouped by hour, approximate location at country level, operating system and general device type, and the interface language reported by your browser/OS.
We do not receive IP addresses or any identifiers that let us single out an individual. We only see aggregate counts. This means that we may see something like --merely as a made up example: In the last hour, 100 people visited. 30% visited from the United Kingdom, 50% visited from the United States, and 20% visited from Australia. 20% were using android, 30% windows, 10% Linux, 40% ios. 50% used a phone, 30% a tablet, and 20% a personal computer. And so on. We do not see anything like, "X number/percentage of visitors from the United Kingdom visited using ios on a phone" or any combined aggregation of more than one parameter.
How analytics works here
- No cookies: the analytics script we load does not set cookies on your device.
- No cross‑site tracking or profiling: we do not follow you around the web and do not build behavioural profiles.
- Retention: aggregate statistics are kept for up to 12 months to observe long‑term trends, after which they are deleted or further aggregated.
- Opt‑out / blocking: you can block analytics by using any content blocker or by blocking the script host

. The site will continue to work.
Browser storage used for on‑page effects
Certain playful effects and secret pages on the site use sessionStorage keys (for example, counters to avoid showing the same effect twice). These values exist only for the lifetime of the browser tab and are cleared when the tab or browser is closed. They are not shared, not synced, and not used to identify you. They do not add, remove, or modify anything else on your device.
Examples of keys: rerollCount
, redirectedToAmazon
. These track interface state only, not users
Sharing and recipients
Analytics are processed by GoatCounter as our service provider. We do not otherwise share visitor data with third parties except where required by law. Even if the Law required it for some reason, we would only be able to share the data that we have. And since we do not collect any identifiable data about you, we wouldn't know you visited unless contacted us and told us you did. More information on Goatcounter can be found at https://www.goatcounter.com/help/gdpr

Pages here may link to external services (for example, book retailers or social networks). Those sites have their own privacy practices and may set cookies. Please review their policies when you visit them.
Your rights
Under the GDPR/UK GDPR you can, in summary, request access to, rectification or erasure of your personal data, restrict or object to processing, and (where applicable) data portability. As we do not keep identifiable analytics about you, these rights typically apply only if you contact us directly (for example, by email). We will respond within one month.
